Our Presiding Elder
Presiding Elder: Reverend Janice A. Lewis
Presiding Elder Janice Lewis is a loving and dedicated servant of God, originally from Madison, AL, and a resident of Huntsville, AL, for over fifty years. She is a proud mother of two, grandmother of four, and glam grandmother of six, embodying the spirit of family and community in her ministry.
Elder Lewis began her spiritual journey at Love Chapel CME Church, where she answered the call to preach under the mentorship of Rev. Ophelia Davis. She received full connection under Bishop Richard Bass and has since devoted over thirty years to ministry. Currently, she serves as the esteemed Pastor of Pine Grove Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and Presiding Elder of the Greater Huntsville District.
A proud alumna of Alabama A&M University, Elder Lewis has held numerous leadership roles within the C.M.E. Church, including Director of Evangelism, Director of Children's Works, and a member of the Board of Finances. At the regional level, she has served on the Ministerial Examination Committee and as Commissioner for the Fifth Episcopal District, and she currently holds the position of Assistant Secretary for the Presiding Elders Council.
Elder Lewis is passionate about nurturing children and youth, seeking to empower them to realize their potential in Christ. Her vision is to see the Joseph generation rise and reclaim their dreams.
As she continues her ministry, Elder Lewis is committed to fostering collaboration among church leaders, encouraging the adoption of digital advancements, and promoting financial stewardship within the church community. In these challenging times, she emphasizes the importance of stability and adaptability, urging her congregation to press forward in faith and claim victory amid uncertainty. Elder Lewis believes this is a moment to move ahead, embracing opportunities for growth and learning as the church navigates an ever-changing landscape.
